Communications Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful announced that a self-service SIM re-registration app will be released on August 2nd.
In your opinion, this app allows public owners to comfortably re-register their SIM cards at home without having to call the network operator. At a press conference on Sunday, Owusu-Ekuful said the app will be available for download on both Android and IOS this week, except in unforeseen circumstances. She also has an additional charge of GH ยข 5 for each registration via the
the app, she added.
She said the release of the app was delayed because “the integration of the virtual private network (VPN) connection and the application programming interface (API) with all MNOs was completed only this weekend due to unavoidable circumstances.”
She said, “We also need enough time for outreach and public education regarding the use of self-service SIM registration apps.” This occurs after many Ghanaians face challenges during Sim re-registration exercises. In particular, millions of Ghanaians have not yet obtained a Ghanaian card, which is the primary tool for new registrations. Others have not yet completed the second phase of re-registration due to long queues and other challenges in the carrier’s office.
For this and other reasons, the Minister of Communications has announced that the deadline for replies has been extended again. She said the deadline was September 30th. This will give you enough time to register all the shims.
“This allows for one year SIM registration. SIM cards that have been reviewed at the end of this month and have not been fully registered by the end of August are prohibited from receiving certain services, including voice and data services. “
Owusu-Ekuful added: Unregistered SIM maps are also more expensive. The full scope of the disciplinary action will be announced at another press conference in September.
